The Southwest Mandarin strides across 9 provinces and regions including all the Sichuan Yunnan Guizhou provinces and some areas in Hubei Hunan provinces. The number of people who speak The Southwest Mandarin is about 250 million, which is one fifth of the whole Chinese population. The Southwest Mandarin has the largest distributing area and the largest population of all the Chinese dialects. In general, The Southwest Mandarin is believed to be the most coherent. It is also said to be a very very easy dialect and has no characteristic.But in fact, every language or dialect has its specialties if it exists in the world. Because of the continual migrants from Jiangxi> Hubeu Hunan province to the southwest areas in Ming and Qing Dynasty, and because of the complicated language environment caused by some nationalities who use The Southwest Mandarin as the common communication language in the southwest areas, and because of the undisciplinary phonetic changes in it, the internal sounds in The Southwest Mandarin is not consistent.The thesis gives a systematical description and synthetical analysis about the initial the final the tone of The Southwest Mandarin from the diachronic and synchronic angle on the basis of prolific data. The thesis has unveiled the direction of the diachronic phonetic changes and the consistency and conflict of The Southwest Mandarin.The thesis has summarized the phonetic system of The Southwest Mandarin. The thesis has tried to give an explanation to the reasons of phonetic changes.
