Study The Strategic Status Of Yongji In Sui And T'ang

The thesis tries to reveal the strategic status of Yongji in Sui and Tang and analyse its cause of formation on the background of some significant events taking place in Yongji in Sui and T'ang.The thesis consists of the introduction, the main body, the conclusion and the references.The introduction outlines Yongji's evolution of organizational system ,its strategic status in Sui and T'ang and the content of this thesis .The thesis consists of three parts. The first part discusses the strategic status of Yongji in the Sui Dynasty by dissecting the rebellion of Liang Shi-yan and the rebellion of Yangliang. The second part exponds the strategic status of Yongji in the T'ang Dynasty. This part is divided six periods which include the Li Yuan's T'ian Yuan revolt and controlling Ch'ang-an, initial stage of the T'ang Dynasty, the Rebellion of An Lu-shan , Fan-cben'separatist rule of the T'ang Dynasty, the Peasant war in late T'ang Dynasty, the annexing war of T'ang military governors. Yongji exerted important influence on current political situation in these events. The third part analyses the reasons why Yongji's strategic status was significant by investigating the military geographic situation and economic advantage of Yongji in Sui and T'ang.Lastly, it is concluded that Yongji had very important strategic position in Sui and T'ang and therefore pressured great influence on current political situation.
