| The western culture's transmission to the east in Late Ming and Early Qing China plays an very important role in the history of cultural development in China , even in the world . This article takes the Jesuits , the western culture withthem and the three classes--the common people in China, thehigh social position , the feudal emperors, as its research objects . It studies the relationship between the western culture and Chinese society from two factors , the Jesuits' transmission of western culture and the acceptance mind of Chinese society.This article can be divided into three parts.The first part discusses the Christianity's Confucianization which was proceeded by the Jesuits in their mission to the high social position . This part also discusses the characteristic and the influence of the western sciense which was brought into China by the Jesuits as a missionary method and the western sciense' acceptance by the high social position in China.The second part discusses the Jesuits' court mission in China and the strategy of using the western sciense to convert the emperors . It analyses the western sciense and Christianity's acceptance by the Chinese feudal emperors.The third part analyses the Jesuits' mission to the common people , the characteristic of the folk religion in China and the influence on the common people's acceptance to Christianity. |
