Comment On Chinese Modern Poetry's Humanistic Value & Humanistic Education To University Students Of Science And Engineering

Poetry has an important influence on Chinese civilization in history. It is a mirror of social life and humanistic spirit in each times. Birthing from the May 4th New Civilization Movement, Chinese modern poetry has unique modern characteristics and humanistic spirit. It contains solicitude of both humanistic and historical civilizations. Modern poetry is not only used to represent the true, the good and the beautiful, but also related to the development of the state and nation. At the same time, modern poetry also makes great efforts to express personality spirit and cultural character in the new times. The modern poets are concerned about the destiny of the state and seek after the values of personal life, friendship and love.Chinese modern poetry is one of the indispensable contents in Chinese education. However, current poetry teaching is becoming weaker and weaker, which brings people great speculation. A few poems can be elected into the textbooks and never present to the Chinese examinations. The students are hardly ever trained to write poems in classroom or outside class. The university students of science and engineering have a prejudice against poetry from the present situation of poetry education. For a long time, one-sided benthamism is the major reason which leads to this situation. It brings on knowledge structure of students single and weak, what's more, students have fed up with studying because teaching process is formulistic. Poetry is one important part of Chinese education. The weak poetry teaching can be regarded as the blind spot of contemporary Chinese education which brings on lack of humanistic spirit. Therefore, from the view point of humanistic value, this paper discuss on the relation of poetry and humanistic quality, as well as the effect to improve humanistic quality about students of science and engineering.Though poetry is leaved out in the cold in current education, this can't be explained that we don't need poetry. Humanistic value of poetry lies in kindling life's enthusiasm and raising person's feeling and ideal. In this sense, to a nation neglecting poetry education must result in the poverty of their descendant's spiritual structure. As a nation possessing of an ancientpoetry civilization, poetry is a raise to students of science and engineering. By aesthetic factor poetry can penetrate into young students' soul and turn into their humanistic quality of spiritual structure, so that this will exert a profound and indelible influence to the youth.
