The Comparative Studies On The Well-being, Self-concept And Life Events Of Private And Public College Students

Life quality of college students can be reflected by their well-being quite well. Using Multiple Happiness questionnaire(MHO) drawn by Yujiang Miao ,Tennessee Self Concept Scales(TSCS) drawn by Williams and Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List(ASLEC) drawn by Xiancheng Liu ,the author tested 604 private and public college students. The aim of the study is to explore the statistical differences between the well-being of private and public college students and to investigate the interaction among well-being, self-concept and life events of college students. The results are demonstrated as following:1.Well-being and self-concept of public college students are significantly higher than that of private ones;2.Well-being of private and public college students is apparently correlate with self-concept, whereas negatively correlate with negative life events;3.Well-being of private college students is greatly affected bypersonal self and social self, but modestly affected by identity , behavior, physical self, family self and self criticism;4.Well-being of public college students is mainly affected by personal self and identity , but modestly affected by moral -ethical self, physical self, self criticism, family self, behavior, self satisfaction and social self;5. Well-being of private and public college students can be partly explained by life events factors as study pressure and interpersonal relationship;6. Other influential factors as academic performance and healthy life style have some effect on well-being of private and public college students, whereas family income has less significant effect on it.
