Plenty of bamboo slips that had been made in Qin Dynasty were excavated in June 2002 in Liye township where found on the bank of Youshui, the main branch of the Yuanshui located to northwest of Hunan Province. These slips were mostly official documents such as the government decree, inter- government file, registries of names and goods,etc. Based on the published documents, this thesis studies some problems of historical geography including Xian (county)or Yi (locality), Jun (prefecture) and postal or mail route during Qin Dynasty.The thesis includes three chapters in all.Chaper one investigates the Xian from Liye Qin bamboo slips.By means of the textual research, the chaper studies some counties such as Yangling, Qianling, Youyang, Lingyang, Chanling, Suo, Linyuan, Yan, Xiao, Jiangling,etc, and proposes that Yangling was located in northwest of Xuchang, Henan Province, Qianling located at Liye, Xiao located in northeast of Tianmen, Hubei Province and so on. It concludes that these counties in Qin Dynasty were the predecessor of which from Hanshu Dilizhi, many of which could date back to the Chu State during the Warring States.Chaper two investigates the prefectures from the bamboo slips during Qin Dynasty.By means of the textual research, the chaper studies the evolution and dependence of the prefectures of Dongting and Cangwu, It concludes that the two prefectures were approximately the same as the Qianzhong and Changsha in historical documents and the bound of the former east to Youshui, south to Lishui, west to Zishui, the latter located to northern of Wuling.Chaper three investigates the postal route and the other roads in Liye Qin bamboo slips.Studied the the postal route from the bamboo slips, It concludes that there were many passageway among Qianling county and the prefectures around it such as Ba, Nan and Cangwu,ect.. The evidences show clearly that Qianling was not only a traffic node in the Dongting region but also a very important communication transfer station of which to around areas during that times.Finally, this thesis discusses the changes of the Qianzhong that recorded in historical documents during difference periods and makes a distinguish between Qianzhong of Chu State and Qin Dynasty.
