A Study On The Social Development Of Wu Area In The Qin And Han Dynasties

Qin and Han Dynasties are a developing period of the united cultural community in our ancient country, which results from the regional cultures' blending together in pre-Qin period. The economy, culture and social transformation of Wu Area are the important elements of the united culture of Qin and Han Dynasties. But whether the study of the regional culture in pre-Qin period or the study of the regional social transformation in Qin and Han Dynasties, less attention has been paid to Wu Area. Owing to the limitation of materials and the deviation of the subjective knowledge, the development of Wu Area is thought as lagging behind Central Plains. So based on the historical documents and the bamboo slips, guided by Marxist historical method, taking the economical structure as the starting point, seeing from the angle of the social transformation, this article studies the development of the social economy and culture of Wu Area in the warring state, Qin and Han Dynasties from the mutual improving between Wu Area and Central Plains, thus discloses that the unity influences greatly on the economy of Wu Area and lays stress on the status of Wu Area in the Chinese cultural community.
