The characters which originated from China spread into Japanese by was of Korea, and got through a long period of process of use and changes in their respective language culture and circumstances. Therefore the Japanese-Chinese characters and Korean-Chinese characters must have a close relationship and common features. However, The two characters belong to different language systems, and must be of same origin but different tributaries.In recent years, many subjects have made great contribution to the study of Chinese characters. This essay goes over the connection between Japanese and Korean characters in history, and on the layer of synchrony, compare and study the "Chinese Characters Designated for Daily Use" in Japan and the "Educational Used Chinese Characters " in Korea.Firstly, by analyzing the historic material, state the process of Chinese characters coming into Japan and Korea and the ways of recording the languages of Korean and Japanese. Furthermore, on the basis of Chinese characters, Japan and Korea made their own words.Secondly, the debate concerning Chinese characters, continues both in Japan and Korea. However, because of their own language features, Chinese characters cannot be given up. After the World War Two, Japan's Chinese character policy and education experienced the use of "Chinese Character (designated) for daily use(in Japan)" and "Chinese Characters Designated for Daily Use". The North Korean Chinese character policy and education is divided into two parts: North Korean part and South Korean part. The South Korean Chinese character policy and education experienced Chinese-Korean mixed period and existed side by side period. The North Korea practices Chinese character education at school too. According to the standard of use. Japan and Korea made "List of Daily UsedChinese Characters" and "List of Educational Used Chinese Characters" to teach Chinese character.Thirdly, from the practical aspect, compare and study the "Chinese Characters Designated for Daily Use" and "Educational Used Chinese Characters" in word recording, sound and meaning of words. In word recording, it is mainly stated the word types, shape of words, the explanation of ideograph and statement of structure features. The comparison of word sound is stated in the order of Korean syllable composition; that is, an initial consonant, the vowels, and a final consonant. Study the corresponding relationship of word sound in "Chinese Characters Designated for Daily Use" and "Educational Used Chinese Characters". The basic meanings of a character from Korean, Chinese and Japanese differ slightly on the static state plane by comparing the meaning of words. But on the dynamic state plane, flexible usage of Chinese characters cause the meaning of words changed.Form the comparison, analysis and study above, this essay draws a conclusion in the end. Faced with the rapid development of message age, the range of using Chinese characters will be constantly extended, and Chinese characters will'play a more significant role.
