This thesis studies Mandarin with Xuzhou accent that is used to communicate by citizens of Xuzhou. It is transitional language or intermediate language between Xuzhou dialect and Mandarin.We have an opinion that, as a typical kind of dialect Mandarin, Mandarin with Xuzhou accent is the result of language replacing between Xuzhou dialect and Mandarin after they naturally contact. We also think that the inner of a language has some strong elements and effeminate elements. Those gained easily and lost difficultly are strong elements, inversely, are effeminate elements. On these viewpoints, firstly, we contrast and analyze the similarity and difference between Xuzhou dialect and Mandarin in all aspects, and then, we describe in detail the language material from first second third and fourth and summarize features of Mandarin with Xuzhou accent at different levels. It obviously appears a dynamic changing process and characteristic. Next, with the aid of some criterions, we conclude the difficulty degree forms of abandoning Xuzhou dialect speech sounds features and earning Mandarin speech sounds features. That reveals that when Xuzhou citizens study Mandarin, they will meet with some difficulties. On the basis of that, we try to seek the cause of formation of Mandarin with Xuzhou accent, and try to summarize some strong elements and effeminate elements in Xuzhou dialect in a way of Continuum. In addition, through quantitative analysis, we verify the phenomenon of lexical diffusing in Mandarin with Xuzhou accent.At last, according to statistics on 200 questionnaires, we can draw a conclusion: though language code selection to Mandarin is affected by communicative occasion, communicative target and communicative topic, the majority of Xuzhou citizens mentally prefer accepting Mandarin and have deeply mental requirement of popularizing and speaking Mandarin.
