Alienation is an ancient concept, which is also an important theory category. On the basis of the thought of the predecessors, Marx creatively put forward the theory of alienated labor, which was used to reveal the tragic situation of the worker under the capitalistic society , meanwhile, this theory affected the later ages greatly. On the basis of the understanding of Marx's Works, Luács raised the theory of reification according to Marx's theory ,which was used to give an overall Criticism to the social phenomenon of reification in the modern society. As to Fromm, who lived in the later capitalistic society ,he made an general description on the phenomenon of alienation in the contemporary capitalistic society; this thesis is an approach to make a theoretical comparison by the statement on the theory of alienation of three thinkers. This thesis is divided into two parts. Part One makes a statement on the thought of these three persons from the following aspects. The origin of the theory, the intension of the theory and the method with which to realize the sublation of alienation .Part Two makes a theoretical comparison between Marx—Lukács. Marx—Fromm and Lukács---Fromm, which is carried out from the following aspects: the cultural tradition, the style of the theory, attitude and the understanding of the concept. With the transform of the historical ages, undoubtedly the theory of alienation changed and developed , the theoretical comparison made in the thesis is just a description of the developing course and theoretical character of the alienation theory. It's just a small part of the cultural criticism. Hope to provide some reference in the research of systematic cultural criticism.
