All the activities for learning in the web-based course are finished mainly through vision. So visual design is the base in the web-based course design. People were mainly concerned about the physical feature of vision and visual design according to the standard of paper media before, failing to consider its instructional meaning and its cognitive feature. The orientation of visual design in the web-based course is to focus on cognitive feature, instructional meaning and web feature of visual language. According to the theory of Cognitive Psychology, Humanism (the base of Philosophy theory) and Constructivism (the base of learning theory), the thesis brings up the method of visual language design, which includes how to design picture, color, text according to cognitive feature and web feature of visual language, and the principles of screen design. Excavating the instructional meaning of visual language and designing visual language better are for learning.
