The Research Of The Relationship Among The Expectation Of Parents Of Junior High School Students In Macau, Students' Achievement Motivation And Anxiety

The purpose of this research is to understand the relationship among the expectation of parents of junior high school students in Macau, students' achievement motivation and anxiety in both common schools and famous schools.In this thesis, The Parents' Expectation Level Scale, Achievement Motivation Scale (edited by Guo, Sheng-Yu 1975,1981), and Junior High School Students Questionnaire (self-edited) are used. The data are collected from 383 Form 2 students from 5 different high schools in Macau. Results are shown in following:1. By looking at different high school, there are more male students in famous high schoolsthan the common ones. Parents' educational levels are higher than the common ones. The parents' relationship, family financial status, atmospheres are also better than the common ones.2. By looking at gender, there are no significant differences among parents' expectation,students' achievement motivation and anxiety. However, there are significant differences when looking at different high schools.3. By looking at students' background, the levels of parents' expectation are related tomothers' educational level. Students' achievement motivation and anxiety are not affected by parents' educational levels, careers or financial status4. The higher level of expectation from parents or students' achievement motivation, thehigher level of anxiety5.
