On the basis of previous researches, we conducted two experiments, five sub-experiments, to explore the parafoveal preview effect during the Chinese normal reading with the boundary technology and negative priming paradigm. In experiment 1, we explored weather the semantic or lexical information can be extracted from the right of the fixation during the Chinese sentences reading. The independent variable is the parafoveal preview character of target. One type of preview characters and target are semantically related. The other and target are not semantically related. Each preview was replace with the corresponding target when the eyes reached the boundary location. Oculomotor measures revealed a strong preview benefit for pretarget N-1, for the semantic related characters. In experiment 2, we examined the parafoveal preview effect during the Chinese discourse reading. Firstly in the sub-experiment 2A-1 and 2A-2, we validated the previous research and found that the integration of foveal information very immediately. In sub-experiment 2B-1 and 2B-2, we used boundary technology to manipulate the parafoveal preview characters of target. There are three types of preview: the preview inconsistent with context, the preview consistent with context and the target preview (also consistent with context). The results reavealed that the first duration and gaze duration of the target is obviously longer when the parafoveal preview is inconsistent than when the preview is consistent and target. It's concluded that during the Chinese normal reading , readers can obtain available semantic information not only from current fixation, but also the right of the fixation. Furthermore, the parafoveal semantic information is involved the higher level intercourse integration.
