The Discussion Of The Lyric Feature Of The Yuan Poetic Drama's Narration

To the poetic drama of the Yuan Dynasty, narration is its exterior frame and lyricism is its inner gist. In fact, the Yuan poetic drama is an entity composed of the two factors. So, if we can integrate the two factors and consider the Yuan poetic drama's lyric feature in this way, it will be a profitable attempt to analyze the Yuan poetic drama's total feature. The academic circles discussed this question occasionally, but it was a little superficial and apparent, so it was not deep enough. This paper links the narration factors with the lyricism factors, observes the Yuan poetic drama in the way of putting it into the development course of the history of the literature, uses the method of macrocosm research and comparison, combines the theory discussion and text analysis together. Through this way, this paper reveals the lyric feature of the poetic drama of the Yuan Dynasty's narration. This paper is composed of three body parts, preface and surplus. The preface briefly introduces that the Yuan poetic drama is a literature and art composed of the narration and the lyricism. In the first part, it analyses that the historical and biographical literature Historical Records and the legends of the Tang Dynasty and the former drama have all offered the profitable experiences to the Yuan poetic drama on the integration between the narration and the lyricism. They have formed a rich and generous traditional accumulation, so they provided a good environment for the Yuan poetic drama to breed and grow up. The second part stressfully discusses the lively reflection of the lyricism in the Yuan poetic drama's narration. We observe this question from three points. Firstly, on the aspect of the selection to the theme, it is showed that the deep exploration of the emotion intention with rewriting the prototype stories. Secondly, on the narration method, it is reflected that narration in advance such as the character's spoken part and the method of narrating the story in advance offers a wide space to the Yuan poetic drama's lyricism. Finally, on the plot arrangement, it is reflected that the abundant expression in the course of the plot's progress. Concretely, it embodies at the varied emotions' expression in the course of the plot's progress, and the emotion's expression at the time of the pause of the plot. The third part discusses the reason that how the lyric feature of the Yuan poetic drama's narration has formed. It lies in the fact that the song was the central in the Yuan poetic drama. We know that the song includes two elements: music and language. On the music, the different Gong-modes show different emotional features. Between the four kinds of Gong-modes and the change of the confliction, it forms a corresponding relation. It achieves the combination between the narration and the lyricism. On the language, the song inherits the poetry and lyrics' lyric feature. What's more, the song exceeds this and has its superiority. It expresses the emotions through the character's soliloquy coming from his heart. And the lyric style is apparent. The surplus briefly summarizes that the lyric feature of the Yuan poetic drama's narration has made a long-time influence to the Ming-Qing legends and that has established Chinese drama's national feature which is good at lyricism.
