In this thesis, we mainly discuss the content of DTS. DTS (descriptive translation studies) is a model studying translational phenomenon constructed by Toury on the basis of Holmes' structure of translation studies. It has a vital position in Holmes' structure. Therefore, the studying of DTS is important for the construction of translation studies. Based on the model of Toury, we further discuss the descriptive objects and methods in the thesis, and try to make up for some deficiencies in Toury's structure. Moreover, through some examples, we try to explain how to describe translation from the synchronic and diachronic angles in the structure of DTS.
