This study aims at discussing the curricular reform in English of Tsinghua University from the teaching method perspective. This study explores the status quo and feasible coping strategies by means of English classroom observations, interviews with English teachers and students. The researcher compares and contracts the different teaching methods in their historical backgrounds and approaches, teaching techniques and teaching procedures, and then analyzing the successes and experiences during the curricular reform and at last gives the theoretical foundations for the future reform. The researcher employs qualitative research methods in discussing the status quo of curricular reform in English in Tsinghua University and employs comparison methods in discussing the teaching methods in English teaching.Finally, according to the conclusions, this study recommends some suggestions for curricular reform in English in Tsinghua University and the topics of future research.
