A Study Of Yao Yuan's Drama

Yao Yuan is a dramatist of Nan Jing Military Area. In 1996, one of hisproductions Shang Yang won a great success during it's staging in Shang Hai. Sincethen, Yao became famous all over the country, also he was considered by the publicone of the best dramatists of modern China, and the best drama writer in Chinesearmy. In fact, Yao has begun his drama writing in the late 1970s, besides Shang Yang,some of his other works also could be listed as Chinese master pieces of moderndrama. The purpose of this article is to present all of Yao Yuan's drama and to critiquesome of his great pieces. This article is divided into 3 chapters. The first chapter is "The early pieces ofYao Yuan". The second chapter is "Yao Yuan's military drama", The third chapter is"Yao Yuan's historical drama". Yao's first script is The ticket, written in 1978.it's a short comedy, from which wecan see Yao's gift in drama writing. In the next year, he finished writing his secondscript The community, this was a story about young people's lives, focusing on thesufferings brought by the culture revolution. In 1981, Yao Yuan finished the script Theactors, which made a name for himself. It is a great realism piece In 1983, Yao Yuan came to Nan Jing Military Area, became a army dramatist.Since then ,it became his job to wirte stories for the soldiers. However, besides hisjob ,he also wrote historical drama. His first army drama was Soldiers from the heaven in 1986, in which he sanghigh praise for heroes, meanwhile; he showed his willing to create a new way to writearmy dramas. Ten years later, he presented his second army drama A Story in the longmarch, which totally broke the rules of army drama writing, Delineating the goodhuman nature Instead of heroism. That made it a great piece, but it was the veryreason why this script could not be put on show. After that, Yao return to the normalway of army drama writing. In 1999, his third army drama Report of warm current.itwas a story happened in retiring lodging house, where army people's relatives feltconfused about the changing during the big reformation. this script won a big prize. In 1980s and 1990s, Yao Yuan wrote 3 historical drama scripts. Shang Yang washis first piece written in 1989, It was his most famous piece too. This was the firstscript that showed the difficulty of reformation and the only one that could deeplydescribe the spirit of reformers. His second historical drama was Li Da Zhao.and in1991.and his third was Attacking Zidu, both of them showed Yao's sense ofresponsibility for a drama writer.
