| A powerful long-standing military force was kept in Han Dynasty in order to strengthen the national functions which include both consolidating the monarchy and defending the country against foreign invasions,so the military expenses in this period were very high.taking up the largest share of the state finance. The military finance was closely related to the national economy because sometimes the whole nation was needed to make great efforts to secure enough military expenses. This thesis deals with the origins, some different developing stages, incomes and expenses, and the distributional principles of military finance in Han Dynasty. Its management and its relationship with the national finance through quantitative analysis, so we can be clearly and deeply aware of people's heavy burdens brought about by the military finance, which helps to our better understanding of the mutual impacts between the military finance and the national economy.Three conclusions have been drawn in the last part of the thesis.First, the excessive expenses of military finance made it impossible for ancient China to spend the national wealth enlarging the scale of mass reproduction, resulting in slow developments of the Chinese traditional world.Second, the military finance is in much connection with the policy of 'encouraging the development of agriculture while inhibiting business activities' in that the large-scale military finance always went hand in hand with the strict implementation of the policy, which was true for all dynasties.Third, the military finance has much to do with the centralized feudal monarchy. Its improvement requires the development of the centralized feudal monarchy which in return, secures the improvement of military finance. |
