Local administration is an important part of one nation's administration, an criticalelement to effect one country's steadiness and social development. The study achievementsof the Dynasties are rare because of the historians' less concern. My thesis focus on the localadministration's executive agencies; the employment of the local officers as well as therelationship between the central government and the local government, in order to explorethe character of the local administration and its changing tendency, analyze its effect to thelocal executive agencies in Song Dynasty. My thesis is divided in three parts that describe the local administration. The first partdiscusses the local administrative agencies in Five Dynasties,and analyzes the power of thesituation in every level local officers in Five Dynasties, and studies the power changing ofthe local officers; the second part introduces the administration of the central government tothe every level officers in local government ; the third part describes the administrativesituation of the local affairs by the central government's officers and the role of the localofficers. There existed a lot of problems in local administration on the ground of theshortcomings of the whole executive system, but it also show some new characters, theexperience and the lessons got in the Five Dynasties did some beneficial effects on thedevelopment and improvement of Song Dynasty's local administration..
