| In modern Chinese, the part of speech can be multifunctional. The noun and nominalphrase can act not only as the subject and the object, but also as the predicate by occupyingthe predicate position. We call a sentence whose predicate is acted by noun or nominal phrasenominal predicate sentence. The nominal predicate sentence is an important sentence patternin modern Chinese. It manifests the difference between Chinese and the western language. Based on the existing research, this thesis further investigates the reasons why thenominal predicate sentences are formed. The thesis consists of five parts. The first four partsdiscuss the internal reasons why four types of nominal predicate sentence are formed. Thefifth part then briefly summarizes the external reasons why the nominal predicate sentence isformed. The main content of the thesis is as follows: 1. Investigating the formation reasons of the sequence semantic nominal predicatesentence from the two aspects of the temporal characteristic and the change in spatialcharacteristic, respectively. These two aspects are the properties of sequence semantic noun. 2. Investigating the formation reasons of the character semantic nominal predicatesentence from the three aspects of the host-predicate semantic relation, the core semanticstructure of the sentence, and the essential condition of sentence formation, respectively. 3. Investigating the formation reasons of the numeral semantic nominal predicatesentence from the four aspects of the host-predicate semantic relation, the essential conditionof sentence formation, the center of semantic expression, and the functions that the subjectand predicate have, respectively. 4. Investigating the formation reasons of the class attribute semantic nominal predicatesentence from the two aspects of the uninterpretable features and the change in spatialcharacteristic, respectively. These two aspects are the properties of the class attribute semanticnoun. 5. Analyzing the external formation reasons of semantic nominal predicate through thecounteraction from the syntax position to the syntax function, the economical principles inlinguistics, the need in pragmatic expression, and so on. |
