Study On The Personality And Mental Health Of The Non-military Students In The Military College And The Students In Common Universities

The group of non-military students in the military college has its own characteristics. It is of great significance for the non-military students' individual development to find out their mental health level, to analysis the main influential factors of their mental health, and to bring forward some constructive suggestions. It is also of theoretical and realistic significance in supplying the army and the society with eligible professional and maintaining a good reputation of the army.AIMIn this study, the mental health state of the non-military students and the students in common universities were measured and compared. The results were also compared with the nationwide norm. The personality characteristics and the mental health state of the non-military students in the military college were studied, and the correlation between them were found out. This study also provided theoretical evidence for the management and cultivation of the non-military students.PROCEDURES and METHODS1.One hundred and forty-nine Non-military students who were randomly selected (abbr. Military group) were tested with the 16 PF by the DXC-5 apparatus.2.0ne hundred and seventy common students who were randomly selected (abbr. common group) were tested with the 16 PF by the DXC-5 apparatus.3.The military group was tested with SCL-90.4.The common group was tested with SCL-90.5.The results of the tests of the two groups were statistically analyzed and compared with the nationwide norm. The correlation between the 16PF and SCL-90 were analyzed.RESULTS1.Compared with the nationwide norm and military group,this study indicates that, the scores of the non-military students are high in dominance, liveliness, social boldness, extroversion, and low in vigilance, privateness, apprehension and tension.2. Compared with the common group and military group,the 16PF scores of the non-military students and the common university students are consistent, but also there are some differences existing. The scores of the non-military students in warmth , reasoning , liveliness, sensitivity, openness to change, extroversion are lower than those of the common university students, while the scores in sentimental are higher than those of the common university students.3. Compared with the nationwide norm and military group,this study indicates that,significant differences exist in the results of SCL-90 of the military group and the norm group in all the factors except the hostile factor (P<0.05) .4. Compared with the common group and military group,the SCL-90 scores of the military group and the common group are consistent to a large extent,indicating good mental state of the two groups.But significant...
