The Study On Zhang Dainian's Theory Of Cultural Comprehension And Innovation

Zhang Dainian is a famous contemporary philosopher and philosophical historian in China,who is a professor teaching at Beijing University. The thesis analyzes the forming process,methodology,philosophical foundation of his theory of cultural comprehension and innovation with running water from its source. It advances how to comprehend the excellent results of Chinese and Western cultures and how to innovate and establish a new socialist culture. Basing on Zhang Dainian's cultural conception, the thesis first expounds the forming process of his theory, then analyzes the methodology and philosophical foundation of the theory, that is, dialectics and the thought of tolerance and harmony, puts forward the ever-fresh inspiration of the cultural comprehension and innovation, that is, Chinese traditional culture and Western modern culture, inquires into the similarities and differences between the two cultures, and the advantages and disadvantages of them as well. In the second part, the thesis conducts a research on how to comprehend the excellent results of the two cultures, presents the critical problem in the process of comprehension, that is, the compatibility and incompatibility of cultural elements in the two cultural systems and explains how Chinese and Western conceptions of heaven and man, values, modes of thinking can melt with each other. At last, the thesis analyzes Chinese contemporary cultural state and conditions, points out the deficiencies of it, brings out the guiding principles for the establishment of a new socialist culture and discusses emphatically the key to the construction of the new culture is to construct new values and a new mode of thinking.
