With the aspect auxiliary of mandarin Chinese children aged from one to five as the object of study, the essay demonstrates when every aspect auxiliary appeared and how they were used, on the base of which, the essay probes into the elements that influence child aspect acquisition, approaches the aspect acquisition mechanism, and tries to merge the issue of aspect acquisition from the angle of system. The essay consists of six chapters. The foreword introduces aspect study in Chinese, intention of the essay, material resources and means of expression. Chapter One depicts child aspect auxiliary acquisition in detail; Chapter Two and Three studies how verbs, syntax and situation aspect influence aspect acquisition; Chapter Four probes into the influence of tense on aspect acquisition; Chapter Five advances the category developing mechanism of aspect acquisition and analyses it; and Chapter Six advocates the system of aspect acquisition. In child aspect acquisition, verb semantics and syntax serve as important factors; situation aspect and viewpoint aspect have prototype association; tense provides the coordinate of time for aspect acquisition; systematicness exists in aspect. The essay advances the category developing mechanism of aspect acquisition and it expounds as follows: 1.Aspect acquisition of children develops from category of cognition, then to category of semantics, and eventually to category of function. Category of cognition refers to bounded temporally and unbounded temporally ; category of semantics refers to instant, temporariness and continuity; and category of function refers to grammatical function of aspect forms. 2.Words expressing the meaning of aspect, including aspect auxiliary, forms a closed system, each functioning respectively. 3.The formation of aspect auxiliary experiences a process of categorization to marks to practical operation.
