In April in the 20th year after the emperor of Ming Dynasty Wan Li began to be in authority (1592 ), Japan invaded Korea on a large scale. Within half a month's time, eight provinces of Korea were lost, and Japanese invaders captured seoul. The king of Korea Li Song ran away to Yi zhou for help. The state of Ming soon dispatched troops to help Korea and fight against Japanese invaders. This thesis probes into three problems regarding the early period (the 20th and 21th year ) of assisting Korea and fighting against Japan in the Ming year of Wan Li. First,Zheng Kun Shou and the state of Ming's dispatchment of troops. At the early days which were not long after Japan started the war, Korea and the state of Ming both had deep doubt towards whether the state of Ming would send army to Korea and fight against Japan. However, through frequent diplomatic activities, especially Zheng Kun Shou's endeavors as an envoy, which dispelled misunderstanding, the troop led by Li Ru Song crossed the Yalu river and helped Korea at last. Second, the army provisions issue and the war situation of fighting against Japan. Before entering Korea, the officer Song Ying Chang had already sent people to Korea to inspect army provisions. But, in order to let Ming's army enter the battle field as soon as possible, the king of Korea lied that the army provisions had already been arranged fully. After Ming's army crossed the Yalu River, insufficient grain store in addition to transport difficulties made the soldier's life sorrowful and miserable. Although the state of Ming and Korea had made great efforts to solve this problem, the situation did not take a favorable turn. Li Ru Song lost most of his morale after the Biti battle and retreated the troop by this, while the Japanese invaders proposed to negotiate for peace, so he turned from advocating war to advocating peace . Third, the peace talks activities of Shen Wei Jing. Shen Wei Jing had entered Pyongyang and negotiated with Japanese invaders for three times, furthermore he reached an agreement with Japanese general after the Biti battle, which meant that the Japanese invaders should withdraw from seoul. His peace talks activities had played a positive role objectively. But actually, the success or failure of peace talks depended on the growths or declines of different political forces among the state of Ming, Korea and Japan. Shen Wei jing and Shi Xing had no ability to hold the whole political situation, while they were much too eager to achieve the goal of chasing away Japanese invaders, so they gave up the principle and concealed the truth, which consequently caused that they were killed after all the truth had been discovered. Conclusion: Wan Li's assistance of Korea and fighting against Japan was a great war of justice, in which the state of Ming and Korea, two feudal countries, fought against Japanese invaders together. Because the state of Ming and Korea both were moribund, there were all sorts of difficulties and interferences in the war including the three respects mentioned above. However , even if under such extremely difficult situation, the people of Ming and Korea still insisted on fighting the enemy, which gave wildly arrogant and ambitious Japanese invaders a heavy blow and forced them to retreat again and again and withdrew from Korea finally. Their extremely hard and bitter spirit makes descendant reverse .
