Process-oriented approach to writing has become increasingly popular in writing teaching. As an indispensable factor in this approach, feedback provided to students' written work plays a very important role in teaching writing successfully.Of the various kinds of feedback, the present paper aims to investigate teachers' written comments, focusing mainly on the form-focused feedback and the content-focused feedback, and their effects on students' English writing. Besides, the EFL teachers' approaches to responding to student writing and students' attitudes towards the feedback are also investigated to gain a general picture of the present situation in writing teaching.The participants involved in the experimental study are 60 non-English majors from the same class but majoring differently, with 43 majoring in political education and 17 in social work in the College of Law, Politics and Economics at Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU). In this study, they are divided in two different groups according to their student numbers and provided with different feedbacks. The study lasts three months, and the results of the study are analyzed.In addition, 105 pieces of writing by 35 students from 10 classes at ZNU are collected in order to find how teachers respond to student writing. Then 10 teachers are interviewed and 188 students from different colleges are invited to fill in a questionnaire to find their attitudes toward feedback.The findings of the study are listed as follows:Firstly, most of the EFL teachers have mainly adopted the product-oriented...
