Secondly, Jauss attached sufficient importance to the important position of readers in literary activities. He suggested that the reader made decision to the text. Text lies in the acceptance of the reader. According to this, Jauss established the view which regarded reader as the center in the study of literature. Thirdly, Jauss criticized the old views of literary history. He paid attention to the Horizon of Expectation and reading practice. Jauss put forward that the literary history was the literary reception history and effect history of readers. Fourthly, Jauss emphasized the importance of aesthetic experience. The basic feeling of aesthetic experience is happiness. We should master the feature of aesthetic experience from three aspects. These aspects are poiesis, aisthesis and catharsis. Fifthly, as an open theory, Jauss regarded reception theory as a theory of communication. There are not stable relations among writer, text and reader. As a matter of fact, the three are in a station of equality, communicating and talking with each other. Finally, the paper discusses the innovation and breakthrough of his thoughts.
