Chongyun's Nature Classfication And Its Reflection In Contemporary Chinese Dialects

Chongyun is a special phonetic phenomenon in Guangyun phonology , What actually Chongyun implies, which has been a puzzle in study field. This thesis tries to give a sound interpretation about the causes of Chongyun's formation. At the same time, the thesis also discusses some related issues concerning Chongyun, such as Chongyun's reconstruction, Chongyun's classification and Chongyun's difference in contemporary dialects. By analysis, the author concludes that the phonetic difference of southern and northern during Sui-Tang period is the objective foundation of Chongyun's formation. The decision of Yan Zhitui and other authors of Qieyun is the first subjective reason about its formation. However, the arrangement of the authors of rhyme tables is the second subjective reason and the most directly reason about Chongyun's formation. Chongyun's reconstruction should be done respectively in their own phonology, its reconstruction may refer to Chinese dialects, but the mutual relations of Chinese dialects should be discerned firstly.
