| The British Boxer Indemnity was the war indemnity for England in1901, and there was long winding process from 1912 to 1930. In fact, theremission of the British Boxer Indemnity has become an importantdiplomatic way for regulating and improving China-England diplomacy.In the course of remission , there was an intense controversy in China onthe British Boxer Indemnity of use, rights and management. Afterthat, the British Boxer Indemnity had been used to the construction ofChinese railways, especially Yue-Han railway, such as the replacement ofthe Guang-Shao and Xiang-E railway, and the building of Zhu-Shaorailway. Though the goal was to open up Chinese marketplace and defendits benefits in China, the British Boxer Indemnity not only speeded up theYue-Han railway and coordinated the construction of Chinese railway, butalso promoted modern construction in China. |
