Since 1970's, many brones have been excavated from the revivals of Liaoning Province, such as bombs, sites and hoards, which has explicit stratigraphic sequence. Among all the brones, the knife has specific characters, on which there are few researchs. This dissertation reviews the kinves from liaoning Province by the numbers, classifies the types and discusses the correlative questions. The dissertation consists of the following 4 chapters:Chapter 1 is the summary of the excatived brOne kinves, reviewing the sites in which has excavated the brone kinves and the relationship between the knives and other objects, according to the country districts and published time of data.Chapter 2 is on the classification of knives.Knives have been classified as A and B by the differences of blades and helves' combinative modes. A are complex knives, whose helve is short and the blade and helve must be combined by other crafts. B are knives which had been made at the same time.Chapter 3 is about the times of knives. In this part, I will deduce the time of knives according to the stragraphic and concomitant sequences, and other analytic methods as the character of site, the analysis of types etc. The research shows that A and B exist at the same time, and maybe A is earlier than B. At Spring-Autumn and Warring times, A disspeared and B still existed. B is the typical brones because it existed through times and had many types.Chapter 4 is on brone knife and brone culture.
