Mozart was the representative of Vienna classical music school in the 18th century. As a genius of the classical music, he had played a crucial role in the development of European music. In his brief life, he composed more than 600 music works, covering almost all music styles. Opera was the main style that he created. Mozart, together with Gluck, Wagner and Verdi, the four great people in European music history, had greatly pushed the development of classical music. Nowadays, many of his operas still dominate theaters, and his arias are required to demonstrate in contests and are very necessary for music voicelearners. This paper starts with the background of his time. Then it thoroughly analyzes the characteristics of his operas in each stage of his life, the music style of his operas, and specialties of his arias. By that the author hopes that we can have a better understanding of his opera' s music style and his contribution to the arts of opera. In consideration of the status quo of opera in our country, the author also has some research here on the possible inspirations and ideas that we can draw on from Mozart' s operas to enlighten people' s creation and guide the practice.This paper includes three sections:The first section starts with a review of the background of his time, and then it analyzes the factors that influence the music styles and characteristics of his works at different times in his life.The second section elaborates the characteristics of his operas and his contribution to the arts of opera, summing up the...
