This text combs and summarizes to the director Chen Kaige's creation course and his works. A series of changes appeared in Chen Kaige's creation course have reflected the difficult transition from art to the market of Chinese films in the new period. This text carries on concrete analysis through Chen Kaige's representative works correctly, probes into the transformation of the esthetic character and the cultural view point of Chen Kaige's films, and tries to announce their unique cultural intension of nationality and the impact on the development and enlightenment of Chinese films of the shifting cultural view point in Chen Kaige's films. The subject of this text is divided into three parts. First, the historical culture background of Chen Kaige's creation. The unique cultural speciality in Chen Kaige's films was not only relative with his personal experiences:he received good education from his mother during his childhood, and he went through"the Culture Revolution"when he was in his teenager, then he received university education, but also bound up with the changes of politics, economy, culture environment of Chinese society closely. Second, the transformation of aesthetic cultural view point of Chen Kaige's films. Chen Kaige's creation course has been gone through four stages. "Yellow Land","Big Parade","Children King"and "Singing While Walking"were the woks in his first stage. This stage was the exploration and pioneer experiment one to noumenonn aesthetics of the films. The innovation of the art form and the introspection and criticism to traditional culture formed the main characteristics of these works. The second stage: Chen Kaige tried to use the classical element of the films. After his next film "Singing While Walking", Chen Kaige changed his film mode, turned from the noumenonn aesthetics of the film to the classical elements of film's art progressively, "Farewell My Concubine"and"Wind And Moon"were the works which Chen Kaige learned to tell a story.
