The Sea Wolf, published in 1904, is one of the most important novels of American writer Jack London. It has been read repeatedly by the readers all of the world for one century and has not lost its artistic charm and social value today. London, in this story, moved the social stage onto a pirate ship named the "Ghost" which was isolated from the society. Through life and death struggle between the "strong" and the "weak", and their exchanging positions, the author expressed his condemnation for the strong and showed his consideration for the human destiny.The thesis makes a detailed analysis of London's creative character and his limitations of the times by means of investigating his life experience, his origin, doing researching on his thought development, arguing about the "superman" philosophy. It also explores the author's inner world, his contradiction of his mind, his perplexity, his pain and sufferings.
