The Ostpolitik was the new post-war German foreign policy, a major turning point. It adjusted to the post-war West German sidedness diplomatic strategy , and strengthened relations with the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, and changed the West German's isolation in Eastern Europe, laying a foundation.for the re-unification of Germany.The main theses of the article discusses the Ostpolitik and the the USSR's influence to it. The Soviet Union had a significant role in the Ostpolitik introduced and the system of Eastern treaties structured. The demand of the Soviet Union to the West Germany in economic and changes in the foreign policy were important factors during forming the Ostpolitik. During structuring the Ostpolitical treaty system, the "Moscow Treaty" between Federal Germany and the Soviet Union determined the principles and bases of the entire treaty system. Berlin was settled, the relations between two Germans and the Federal Germany with other Eastern European countries normalized, in which the Soviet Union had played a crucial role.The foreign policy changes of the Soviet Union to the Federal Germany was an important external condition that the Ostpolitik was put forward, and as the Ostpolitik was implemented, it improved and strengthened the relations between the Federal Germany and the Soviet Union, thus as was directly contributed to normalization of relations between the two Germany, which for the ultimate goal of the Ostpolitik, the re-unification of Germany had created favou.rable conditions.This article altogether divides into three sections. The first section elaborats the condition as well as the content and the goal which the Ostpolitik appears. The big background of the Ostpolitik appearing is the detent of the international situation, has brought the change present situation opportunity for Federal Republic of Germany. That the policy of strength defeats, the public opinion changes, the Social Democratic Party comes on stage being in power , are the domestic factors which the Ostpolitik appears. Among these, the author highlights the function and the Soviet Union's influence to it. The second section elaborats the Ostpolitik treaty system to construct the process. A whole by Federal Republic of Germany and the Eastern European countries which theOstpolitik treaty system is which signs the bilateral treaty constitutes. Among this, Federal Republic of Germany and Soviet Union's Moscow treaty is most important, it has laid the entire Ostpolitik treaty system foundation. In the process of the Ostpolitik treaty system, the Soviet Union in which the tremendous role in promoting;The third section summarily elaborats the Soviet Union's status and the influence in the Ostpolitik, as well as author to the Ostpolitik some ponders.
