Chu-Dynasty slips of the Warring States collected by Shanghai Museum has brought much attention from the academe since it comes out .Not only it has a large amount of slips which are affluent in many fields ,but also these slips are all original ancient books of Warring States before "FenShuKengRu"by Emperor Qin. So it is recognized as "the treasure of the country".This dissertation takes Chu- Dynasty slips of the Warring States collected by Shanghai Museum Vol.4 as the study object. There are two parts in the thesis. This first part is the summary of study on Vol.4,the last part is the layout for Vol.4,which is the main body of the paper."The study summary on Vol.4"has three chapters. The first chapter is about the slips 'coupling on CaoMoZhiZhen,JianDaWang,BoHan and NeiLi. The second chapter is the commentary on ancient writing and some explanations on layout .The third chapter is what I have learned, during my study Vol.4."The layout for Vol.4"is the principle part of the thesis. It has Introduction, Straight matter and Alphabet. Straight matter involves Text, Hewen, Chongwen, Difficulty and Incomplete characters. This layout has collected all the characters in Vol.4.Characters are arranged by ShuoWenJieZi(DaXuBen). The principia of word orderliness are the font style, assistanted with the meaning of the word and literature collation. In acceptmg or rejecting the ideas of other scholars on character analyses, font style is also the first tenet. For the characters without last word , I order them by their font style and set forth my viewpoint.
