Effect Factors On The Construction Of Retrieval Structure In Long-term Working Memory

In 3 experiments, the effect factors on the construction of retrieval structure in long-term working memory were studied. There were 90 students in psychology department, Hebei normal university. They,were divided into 3 groups in average, accept 2 different trainings: rehearse, construct by association, construction at liberty. 3 experiment used serial word recall,3×2 mixed design,3 training conditions were between-subject function, present time were within-subject function and divided into two levels .short and long. The right rate was studied with multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). In experiment 1, the material from narrative text, there was main effect for training conditions and present time, and a significant interaction between them. In experiment 2, the material from illuminate text, there was only main effect for present time. In experiment 3, the material from narrative text but increased difficulty, there was only main effect for present time. The result indicate: construction of retrieval structure was useful to remember the serial words;in simple task the way of construction by association was better than others;types of literature affect the construction of retrieval structure. Subjects were easy to construct an effective retrieval structure in narrative text and were difficult to construct an effective retrieval structure in illuminate text;difficulties of task affect the construction of retrieval structure. Subjects were easier to construct an effective retrieval structure in lower difficult task than in higher difficult task;construction of retrieval structure had a certain time course. In long present time retrieval structure can be made elaborative.
