To investigate the inhibition functioning of the Central Executive, Rule-based Memory inhibition ERP study is a main approach in cognitive neuroscience. Two experiments were conducted continuously via go/nogo paradigm. Two kinds of stimuli are presented in two processing conditions: one is simple inhibition(nogo),the other is complex inhibition(counting3 nogo and counting5 nogo). The purpose of the study is to unravel the relationship between N2 and P3 under new working memory model proposed by Baddeley(2000).Meanwhile,the visual working memory capacity and HERA model are also validated in the study. The main findings of the study are as follows:(1) Both N2 and P3 are the characteristic ERPs under nogo inhibition, but P3 amplitude is a good indicator of inhibition processing depth;(2) Through ERP waveforms separation from encoding of stimuli sequence,we verify that the capacity of visual working memory is about 4 units;(3) In the go/nogo sequence response, encoding is mainly the function of right hemisphere, but inhibition retrieval is concentrated on left frontal area and anterior cingulated cortex(ACC).(4) Central Executive plays a key role in response inhibition, episodic buffer proposed in Baddeley new working memory model is where the feature binding happens.
