By researching the pibo of the Bodhisattva painted statues and wall paintings in Mogao Grottoes and of the ordinary women in Sui Tang and Wudai Dynasty, the author verifies that Mogao Grottoes is a result of a combination of oriental and occidental cultures. Both the pibo of the Bodhiisattva painted statues and wall paintings in Mogao Grottoes and the pibo of ordinary women in Sui Tang Wudai Dynastys all have various forms. This research focuses on the structure color patterns and matching of the Bodhisattva's pibo and women's pibo. And helps in gaining a better understanding of the styles of pibo of the Bodhisattva in Mogao Grottoes and of the ordinary women in those periods.In the first chapter of this article, the author distinguishes and analyses the differences between pibo and luoye , and unified the different names of pibo called by other scholars.In the second chapter of this article, the author analyses the pibo of women in Sui Tang Wudai Dynasty from the wall paintings of female donators in Mogao Grottoes and paintings handed down of those periods in several aspects such as matching .colour, patterns . taking on and structure as well.In chapter three, the study of Bodhisattva 's pibo of Mogao Grottoes carried out mainly from the matching .color, patterns .taking on and structure by compared with the clothes of ancient India, and concluded which types of pibo were from India and which types were recreated by Chinese natives.There is a chapter in this article specifically discussing the origination and development of the Bodhisattva clothing in Moga Grottoes For a long time , there have been theories arguing that Buddha sculptures are results of Indian Buddhism absorbing the religious culture of Greece and Rome. The author verified this point once again that the Bodhisattva clothing styles in the Mogao Grottoes has much in common with the clothing way of ancient Greek himation, after the introduction of Buddhism from India into China, the style of Bodhisattva clothing including pibo was gradually influenced by Chinese clothes of this period.
