| The study about noun of the human organs made by the former researchers mainly focuses on exploring the cultural factors involved in it, the manifested rhetoric manner, and cognitive manner. The thesis intends to explore it anew in terms of syntax, semantics, and cognition.The thesis is divided into four parts.The first part is an introduction. It gives a brief account of the significance and value of the choice of the topic as well as its present accomplished work. It also explains the scope, approach and method of the study in the thesis. Moreover, it points out the sources of the data.In the second part, we discuss how noun of the human organs and noun of locality combine together. Firstly, we specify the two combining forms of noun of human organs: adding noun of locality before and behind it, which display in formula respectively as "noun of locality + X" and "X + noun of locality". Then, we summarize their general characteristics through the analysis of the data and the facts, and offer an explanation from cognitive perspective. Thirdly, on the basis of the cognitive theory, we illustrate the subjunctive semanticization of the combination between noun of human organs and noun of locality. Lastly, standing from "shang" and "xia", the high frequently used antonymy, we make a specific survey of the symmetrical and asymmetrical characteristics when they collocate with noun of human organs.The third part is to discuss the free omission and appearance of noun of human organs in a clause. Firstly, it introduces the basic syntactical function of noun of human organs, and then focuses on the types and constraining factors of the phenomenon that noun of human organs omits and appears in a clause.The forth part is a conclusion of the whole article, and we point out some difficulties and deficiency which still exist in it. |
