A Study On The Revival Of Taixue In The Northern Song Period And Its Perfection Of Management

Taixue is one of the main organizations of ancient high education in China. The most remarkable Taixue is in Song Dynasty, which is different from both previous high educational organizations and later high educational organization. The reasons for flourishing of Taixue in the Northern Song Period are various, such as the policy of attaching importance to literary rather than military in the Northern Song Period, sufficient funds, and perfect management which is more standard and perfect than the one in Tang dynasty. The government of the Northern Song Period initiated three movements of setting up of the schools, and established a nation-wide government schooling system which is centered by the imperial college and central Taixue, supported by many training schools and local schools. After these three movements and adjustment of educational policy, the management of government became mature. Among these, school regulations, examination contents and forms, funds resources, books management and publish, and the selecting of school officials became fixed system. This thesis will analyze the revival, management system, funds management and teaching management of Taixue, and try to conclude the distinctive qualities on management of Taixue in the Northern Song Period, thereby provide reference for the reform of high education at present.This thesis includes five parts except preface.The Introduction discusses the relationship among Taixue, Guozixue, Simenxue and the imperial college, and track the origin of Taixue.Part One explains the revival of Taixue in the Northern Song Period according to time sequences, and represents a complete picture of the development of Taixue.Part Two analyses the management system of Taixue in the Northern Song Period from two aspects— the management system and the selecting of school officials, thuspoint out the distinctive qualities on management of Taixue in the Northern Song Period.Part Three discusses the funds management of Taixue, including the types of funds, the ways of collecting funds and the operation of funds, and further discloses the relationship between the management of Taixue and its educational investment.Part Four analyses the teaching management of Taixue, including curriculum, examination, school rule, thereby we will have an overall understanding about the perfection of Taixue in the Northern Song Period...
