Design And Culture

Design has always been related to culture. As design has become more and more important to industry and modern life, it is bringing so much influence to our culture that it gives some designers the impression that they are designing culture through their work. The function of design has been magnified. It is believed that we can design everything, even the culture. This article discusses culture, design, and the relationship between them to explain why "culture can not be designed". Designers should see their work the way it is and respect the culture to be a most important factor in designing.
