The Discussion Of Ramie Material's Abstraction And Empathy Transference In Modern Fiber Art

The author explores the possibility of ramie used in fiber art.Fiber art is sort of both traditional and modern art. As for its modern, it is boomed with modern art. Many modern artists walk from their canvases and have shaken off the shackles of canvases. They create order by employing fiber stuff and seek the possibility of expressing abstract ideas through fibers. As for its traditional trait, our ancestors have made good use of it and created many daily utensils, which were regarded as art works long time ago. Nowadays we could still sense these art works are full of humane colors transferred. Just as what is ever pointed by western philosophy Wilhelm Worringer that there is endless recycles between abstract and empathy. In his book 《Abstraction and Empathy》 , he clearly expounds the relation between traditional art, which is perfectly fitted for explaining the stuff expression of fiber. Hence it lays the framework of my research and it also winds through the whole thesis.Material used in fiber art is the first language. So we need to pay close attention to the material, texture, color and form etc. In my research I will discuss the relation between material and traditional art as well as material and modern art. Next, by analyzing the history reforming and development, I will discuss the development possibility of fiber future. I will mainly focus on two problems, which concerns material used and the abstract of fiber art. I have to admit that my research is over generalized and lacks of supporting. So in following chapters I will employ a typical material used in fiber art- ramie to analyze it systematically including its classification, the history, its development highest peak and the ramie culture formed during its process. By employing a single stuff to dig the depth of my thesis. Finally, I will combine the theories above mentioned with the classic fiber art works to kindle my creative ability and imagination and at last create my own work and draw my conclusion on the possibility of its creating procedure, order, sign and tradition.The theory layers of my thesis are Abstraction and Empathytheory-material-fiber material-ramie-ramie material's abstraction andempathy transference.
