Achievement motivation had been the hot topic since McClelland and Atkinson studied in 1950s.Scholars explored various aspects on achievement motivation from different perspectives, such as its nature, construction, development and the like. It is obvious from recent achievement motivation theories that scholars have sloughed off or been apart from the bondage of instinct theory and drive theory, and turned to explore the process of cognition, with the subjective and objective matters emphasized. In exploring the characteristics of children's achievement motivation, it indicated that adults'criticism / praise Patterns as the external potency, played a key part in the development of children's achievement motivation. The scholars in the West parole into the relations between types of criticisms/praise and the modes of children's response through experiments and research, and expound children's different response modes from the angle of social Cognition: various criticism/praise makes children have different abilities, pursue different achievement goals and change their attribution to the tasks and achievements, thus their feelings and behavior responses, etc. The research in this respect not only deepens people's cognition on criticism/praise, but also provides psychological basis for adults'educating the children. However, some problems still remained to be settled in this research field, that is, at present, in only probes into the short-termed effects of the children's response modes in experimental circumstances, which are caused by criticism/praise. The probe into the above problem will not only further enrich and deepen people's cognition about criticism/praise, but also provides specific theoretical instruction for educators'feedback skills. The following are studied:...
