In our country, serial novel is a kind ofliterary genre of antiquity novel which represented the highest achievement at Mingand Qing Dynasty, it is a single form of long pieces of classical novel. But there hasbeen a tradition in Chinese antiquity novel: putting poems into novel. Develop toserial novel of Ming and Qing Dynasty this tradition had been in vogue. But most ofreaders usually show loving care for the story only, neglecting the important positionof poems during their novel. In fact Chinese literature is poetry literature. Poemsduring 《ShuiHuZhuan》has been made its into a organic entirety with its own storyand given a very important function in itself.Combining poems with literary enrich 《ShuiHuZhuan》language expression,making its diction condensed, contained and magnificent . Its poems give muchdifferent narrative function modeling persons arranging story or describingcircumstances etc. In a word the poems strengthen its act charm heavily. So this paperdiscusses on the verse want to give some new aspects for research of the Shui Hu, it isthe most important purpose of this paper.The paper looks back on the cultural resources of the verse in the classicalliterature. The verse of Shui Hu has many sources because of its special process ofwriting, most of them come from HuaBen and some literary writers, the other editionsabout Shui Hu are one indispensable source too. So the skill of the idea and the art aredifferent in the same book in some degree. Giving an intact statistical data about allkinds of verse in Shui Hu, it tries to give an overall and objective study through thefollowing two aspects content and function. Emergence poem is a summarydenomination for the distinguishing feature in the verse when a main characterappearing first in novel, which can solve some problems for researcher on Shui Hunowadays. Through the discussion on the emergence poem, it further points out thatthe stories of Lin Chong and LuZhishen are added to by other authors after theoriginal edition.
