A Study On Liu's Dwelling House In Kaifeng And Weishi

As an important part in Chinese traditional building, The traditional dwellings of the Chinese is a prosperous cultural heritage on architecture. Its appearance and development are the integrated reflection of the influence of many factors---society, economics, culture, nature and etc. As a prominent role in Chinese traditional dwellings, the traditional dwellings in Henan province not only has much traditional characteristics in common with all the resident buildings of China, but also has its own specific features. During its developing process, it is deeply affected by the geographical conditions, politics, economics, historical culture, customs and etc.Liu's dwelling house , in Kaifeng of Henan, is one of the typical representatives among all the quadrangle resident buildings of Henan. Kaifeng, in the big eastern flatlands of Henan, belongs to the typical warm and mild temperate zone continental climate. Four seasons are quite different from each other. Thus, this special local climate conditions fully reflect the form system and spatial structure of resident buildings.Liu's dwelling house, which is owned by the top richer, Liu Yaode, a landlord who is Weishi of Kaifeng in the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of MingGuo period, has a special social and historical background. At one time, Liu's Clan were well-off at the end of Qing Dynasty, so they have enough money build such splendid houses.Kaifeng, regarded as one of the 24 well-know historical and cultural cities which were announced in the first group by government, has a good deal of cultural and local historical accumulation.
