| Clone technology is a news frontier in contemporary life science and technology, bringing forth to human both the prospect of wide application and ethic impingement, because it concerns with human itself. In the statement by International Human Genome Ethic Committee on cloning in March, 1999, human-cloning was subdivided into procreation clone, basic research and therapeutic clone according to clone purposes. Ethical problems and rational thinking caused by procreation clone (that is, cloning a person ) are discussed in the article.Human-cloning connects closely with the human life itself, leading to many ethical and moral problems and great impingement to human society. First, Human-cloning will be confronted with great challenges to human signification, changing human biologically, psychologically and sociologically. Second, Human-cloning will disassemble humanity and technologize humanity. Third, Human-cloning will lead to the disorder of human ethical relationship and have dramatical effect on traditional marriage. Fourth, human-cloning damages human dignity. And lastly, human-cloning breaches 3-principles of ethnics (inoffensive principle, just principle and independent principle) . In addition, the main viewpoints in favor of human-cloning (such as human-cloning for the need of sterilization ; in memory of the dead, for giving birth to healthy babies or for the single to have a baby, etc. ) are denounced in the article. However, human-cloning unavoidable because of the possibility in technology, interest drive of the modern markets and the nature of scientific researches. Therefore, the problems of human-cloning result in our rational thinking: human-cloning is the outcome of high-tech development. The argument on human-cloning incarnates the conflict between scientific and technological development and traditional ethics. The essence of the conflict is the conflict between science and technology and traditional culture. |
