Language can't be isolated from culture, and can't betray the inherited methodand belief. Our nature of life was determined by these methods and beliefs."(Sapir,1921:221) To learn foreign language well, it seems impossible to deny the understanding of the target language society and culture. Therefore, it becomes one of the natural objectives to train students' curiosity, tolerance and flexibility to the cultural discrimination; to train students' inclination and interest to communication and keep mutual understanding with native speakers. Thus, the essay starts from the definition of culture, elements of culture and variety of culture, I display the difference exists between Chinese and English in the following aspects: social habits, notion of vocabulary, non-language communication, evaluation and conceiving habits. And all kinds of cultural difference appears in the practical language teaching. I managed to explain the different language usage in different cultural layers and different cultural origination. I demonstrate the obstacles that the students facing in their cross-culture learning and communication and even some of the cause. Generally, their barriers are: misunderstanding, rigid impression and central racialism. And the direct cause of these hampers are: traditional pedagogy and applied linguistics that they deal slightly with the research on culture. Because of the present global condition, the second language acquisition is booming. The notion of our language teaching is renewing with the research on the previous foreign language learning.
