Mozhuang Liu Family live in a town named Tianbao , which lies in YiFeng County in the northwest of Jiangxi Province and at the entrance from Northwest of Gan to Xiang and E(xiang is the abbreviative name for HuNan Province, Gan for Jiangxi and E for Hubei). Up to the time when the ancestor of Liu Family , LiuChun ,who lived in the governing period of Empeor Song Guang , selected Tianbao Xin Hui , it has existed for over 800 years . Before mid Ming Dynasty , Liu family had been in a process of slow and innovative social transition .With the development of the economy of the late Ming Dynasty , Liu Family also experienced aagricultural and commercial economy from the former agricaltural one , and Liu Family became prosperous owing to the use of the resourses and transportation , as well as the control over them. During this period , the population and wealth increased dramatically . By the means of two large scale family constructions it set up a family - developing model both in the family and outside , which helped Liu Family get the reputation in the local society and strengthen its base for living space .However .under the everchanging situation of Chinese modern history , Liu family declined because of its losing of the ownership of resouses such as hills and fields and the building of new roadsThe thesis tried to explore the transiton of the Liu Family and from this perspect to discuss the connection bieween family construction and the ownership of resourses and transportation .Through combing the the historical materials it attempted to depict the transition of commercial activities and local society in the northwest of Gan during the period of late Ming Dynasty and mid Ming Guo .
