In modern Chinese ,the interrogative pronoun"Shenme(什么)"have not only interrogative usage ,but also non-interrogative usage. Negative usage is an important one of non-interrogative usages of"Shenme". And the negative usage of"Shenme"is frequently used in spoken Chinese communication. As far as students abroad are concerned, it is very difficult to acquire the negative usage of"Shenme". So it becomes a nodus when we teach the students abroad Chinese as a foreign language. For this reason, research on the Negative usage of"Shenme(什么)"is significant.In this thesis, the negative usage of"Shenme"indicates that"Shenme"expresses a negative meaning to the negated object without depending on any other negative sign. The usage exhibits that speaker assumes a certain negative attitude to the negated object.Through describing the negative usage of"Shenme", we got two typical forms of it ,"V Shenme (V/NP)"and"Shenme NP",and two special forms ,"Shenme Ya"and"W Shenme (W)".Compared with previous correlative researches , it is the first time that"W Shenme W"was published.Having researched on these forms, we drew the conclusions :1"V Shenme (V/NP)"aims at action or actor's intenstion. It is used to make a negative remark on rationality of action or something's property. By this means, speaker expresses his intention"don't do (v)"or"not be". The usage functions as an imperative sentence.
