Presupposition is an objective and pervasive phenomenon in natural language. Presupposition has been the important task in the philosophic and logic study from 19 century, the famous logician Gottlob Freg lead Presupposition into logicBertrand Rusell P.F.strawson and other logician and linguistics studied it, so it brings to scholar's close attention . Different studies given by different schools benefit the understanding of this concept, making the studies of this topic complicated as well. So this paper wants to sort out and classify these theories.This paper is a clear study of the Presupposition's history and basic theory though four parts. And point out the important meaning in theory study and practical application.chapter one : looks back the studied history of Presupposition. Presupposition was raised as philosophic and logic terminology at first.Freg, Rusell and Strawson made first researches into it, which caused many people have interests in it. This chapter states the different interpret about Presupposition in history, it is to display the sequence of Presupposition concept.chapter two: This chapter introducts the thesis of the Presupposition, and it has three sections.(l) The first section is about different comprehend of Presupposition implication.(2) the second section of this chapter is about classification of types of Presupposition. (3)the third section of this chapter give a description of the features of Presupposition.chapter three is a contrast study in Semantic Presupposition and Pragmatic Presupposition.Introduced their's definition, features, applied scene and the relations.chapter four Resorting to the theory on Presupposition not only can people resolve some Problems occurring in Natural Language Logic, but also improve the ability to understand and apply the language in everyday life.The objective of the present thesis is~- to review and summarize the forefathers payed attention to presupposition through the four parts. And expand the field of vision about the presupposition, announce the Presupposition signify much in the reseach of Logic theory and in the Natural Language expression.
