| Amy Tan's works enjoy great popularity. Among the reasons, the diversity of narration and the application of narrative devices enhance the novels'readability. This thesis intends to conduct a detailed analysis of the narrative characteristics of Amy Tan's four novels, namely The Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God's Wife, The Hundred Secret Senses and The Bonesetter's Daughter. The four novels are analyzed in chapters focusing respectively on point of view, narrative time and narrative levels, which aim at locating the narrative features and their functions. It is expected to enrich the study of Tan's works from the perspective of narratology, which is by contrast less popular than the perspectives of culture and feminism but calls for increasing attention. |
